Style and Structure
When writing a Word document, maintaining a consistent style and structure is essential for clarity and professionalism.

Start with a clear and concise title, followed by a well-organised introduction, body, and conclusion.

Use headings and subheadings, formatted with Word's style tools, to break the text into manageable sections and guide the reader through the content.

Apply consistent font type, size, and colour for the main text, typically using a readable font like Times New Roman or Arial in 12-point size.

Ensure proper alignment, usually left-aligned for standard documents, and use appropriate line spacing, such as 1.15 or 1.5.

Formatting
Formatting in Microsoft Word refers to the process of adjusting the appearance of text and other elements within a document to enhance readability, visual appeal, and structure.

This includes changes to font type, size, colour, and style (such as bold or italic), as well as paragraph alignment, line spacing, and indentation.

Additionally, formatting encompasses the use of headings, bullet points, numbering, tables, and images.

Proper formatting aids meaning by organising content logically, highlighting key points, and making the document easier to navigate.

For example, headings can break the text into sections, bullet points can summarize information succinctly, and consistent font choices can create a professional look. This improves the overall clarity and effectiveness of the document, ensuring that the reader can quickly understand and engage with the content.
